Our distinguished Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, organizational planning and operation guidance.
Member Ewechu is the CEO and Founder of Unreasonable East Africa, an accelerator for social/environmental start-ups in East Africa. He and his team are leading the way in social impact in this area of the world. Joachim brings an unequivocal knowledge of social entrepreneurism to the BeadforLife board. In addition to Unreasonable East Africa he founded and operated two other strategic startups.
CEO & Co-Founder Hibbard is the CEO of BeadforLife. Her career has focused on ending extreme poverty by working in the US and abroad with organizations such as The Better, Safer World Campaign to advocate for US foreign assistance; Facing the Future, a global issues curriculum organization, and as a consultant to various development and poverty organizations.
President and Co-Founder Jordan has been involved in the health profession for the past 30 years as a practicing psychotherapist, group facilitator, hospice care worker, and health advocate. She is also involved in poverty-eradication/income-generation projects in the Andes of Peru and in the Amazon region of Ecuador. She has an MFA in poetry and has just published her first book, Clear Cut: One Woman’s Journey of Life in the Body.
Barbara Lawson has had a long career in executive management positions with nonprofit, university and for-profit organizations. She was the first President & CEO of The Kidney TRUST. Before joining the TRUST, Barbara was Chief Operating Officer and Senior Project Director for Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation. In this position, she was responsible for the growth and development of Pangaea. Barbara’s professional history includes service as vice president of administration and finance at California State University Monterey Bay, vice president for administration and finance at Marin Community Foundation and chief financial officer at the Pacific Stock Exchange. Barbara holds an MBA.
Member Paterson is an avid believe in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship as a vehicle for change and is passionate about utilizing socially responsible startups as a pathway out of poverty. A real estate and communications professional by trade, she commits her time and energy to organizations doing the work she cares so deeply about. In addition to her role on the BeadforLife board, she is a board director of the Moxie Foundation, One Village Planet and PCI.
Global Ambassador and Co-Founder Wakefield served as our first Executive Director and is now BeadforLife’s Global Ambassador. She has co-founded many organizations that help the world’s poor or marginalized. In addition to BeadforLife, these include AIDS, Medicine and Miracles, providing education and community for people living with HIV/AIDS and Wellspring, a holistic healing center.
Member Chuck Wilson is the Chief Operating Officer at the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT). As COO, Chuck oversees IMT's organizational strategy and fundraising as well as supervising program activities in support of IMT's mission to promote energy efficiency. He brings 20 years of non-profit experience leading strategy, staff, programs and communications with senior public and private stakeholders. Chuck is also an experienced fund raiser, having secured over $100 million in corporate, foundation and private sector support. He and his wife led a $24 million healthcare infrastructure project in Kampala, Uganda and were privileged to be part of BeadforLife at its inception. They maintain many deep ties to Uganda. Chuck holds an MBA.
US Global Expansion Team
Our passionate team has a long history in the areas of training, development, philanthropy, communications and poverty eradication efforts. We take pride in our best in class talent and look forward to growing and pushing the boundaries with this leadership and experience.
Director of Global Philanthropy Before joining the team, Tifany served as a Board member and architect of the Ignite One Million Campaign. She has a Master's degree in Philanthropic Studies and has raised approximately $180 million in her career. She is excited to help build a new philanthropy department with the BeadforLife community to expand Street Business School globally.
Global Operations Manager Carlyla has more than a decade of experience developing, designing, monitoring, evaluating and replicating social programs within East Africa. With the ability to build strong and inclusive teams across cultural and physical barriers, Carlyla has helped develop and replicate more than 20 social programs in more than five countries.
Director of Global Training Chris has over 30 years of experience as a keynote speaker, trainer, and performance improvement leader. She specializes in business planning and design, change management, organizational and talent development, and financial management. She owns her own performance improvement consulting firm, and has trained and coached thousands of individuals.
CEO & Co-Founder Devin is a thought leader on social entrepreneurship, earned-income generation for non-profits, and how to use entrepreneurial training to empower women to transform their lives. Devin has an MPA from the Evans School at the University of Washington, and has lived or worked in Uganda, India, Kenya, and Alaska.
Global Community Engagement Manager Korri has over eight years of program management experience, including new program development, orientation and training, project planning, budget management and stakeholder engagement. She is an accomplished University lecturer with 10 years of classroom management experience, including designing course specific syllabi and requirements and creating a variety of learning experiences.
Director of Communications Amy brings more than 20 years of diverse marketing and communications experience, having worked with some of the largest media brands in the world. She has secured large national placements and built dynamic strategic partnerships. Amy brings her outreach experience to grow the pipeline for Street Business School’s continued growth and success.
UG Global Expansion Team
Our Uganda team brings years of talent and perseverance on the ground in Uganda. The connections this team forms with communities on a local level has elevated our name for over a decade. We are thrilled to connect with this team on a day-to-day basis.
Phoebe Hedwig Aringo
Partnerships Program Coordinator Phoebe is passionate about women-led development initiatives that bring real change to the lives of families. She has eight years of experience in community development work with an interest in poverty eradication including reproductive health, business training and coaching, and creative facilitation for young adults to realize their full potential and thrive.
Entrepreneurial Program Assistant Justine has six years of experience in community development including mobilization, research, business training and workshop facilitation. She is a qualified social worker with an impeccable skill in counseling and guidance of both teenagers and adults living in the urban slums of Kampala.
Program Team Leader Evelyn has 20 years of experience in development work and business management as a seasoned facilitator, business coach and team leader. As a professional banker, she brings a working knowledge of sound money management, contributing to enterprise development for economically disadvantaged women, unleashing their potential to escape chronic poverty.
Entrepreneurial Program Assistant Rebecca has three years of community development experience, community mobilization, entrepreneurial training and mentoring as well as monitoring and evaluation. Rebecca is a qualified counselor with over five years of experience working with youth, having tutored groups in Rwanda and Southern Sudan.
HR & Uganda Operations Manager Catherine has over 10 years of experience managing a broad range of HR functions including policy development and legal compliance, recruitment, contracts, training and performance measurement. She has an extensive background in operation coordination including procurement, transport, insurance, IT systems and oversees all logistics to ensure day-to-day operational efficiency.
Entrepreneurial Coordinator & Global Member Trainer Racheal has six years of community development experience including program design, instructional training, evaluation and curriculum writing. Her professional experience includes training, coaching and mentoring with BeadforLife and monitoring and evaluation of public health interventions with Makindye Division - KCCA.
Program Coordinator Joanita is a seasoned business skills trainer and coach. In her six years of community development, she has gained experience in designing programs, curriculum writing and monitoring and evaluation. Joanita brings vast knowledge in behavior-change, communications, planning, programming, project implementation and she has mentored several team members to conduct business trainings.
Program Assistant Agnes has over six years of experience in mentoring youths, providing them with psychosocial support and empowering them to excel. Her qualifications in community development coupled with a high-spirited nature create positive impact on the community while she is mobilizing, mentoring and counseling the economically disadvantaged women groups.
