Why I’m So Excited About Our Future
By Evan Cauble-Johnson, Acting CEO, Street Business School
As I’ve reflected on stepping into the role of Acting CEO here at Street Business School, one thing has been crystal clear: I am deeply excited about our future.
Why? Because SBS is in a rare and powerful position to make a real dent in global poverty. Over the years, we’ve proven that our entrepreneurship training works. Women living on less than a dollar a day graduate from our programs with the confidence and skills to start and grow businesses. Again and again, we’ve seen them substantially increase their income—transforming not just their own lives, but the futures of their children and communities. That’s the kind of change that lasts.
But there’s something else that makes me even more hopeful. SBS has also built the ability to teach other organizations to deliver the same results. Through our partnerships, we’ve equipped hundreds of other NGOs with our curriculum, tools, and coaching so they can bring life-changing business skills to the women they serve. Watching our model multiply through these partners is one of the most inspiring things I’ve witnessed in my career.
These two strengths – proven results with women at the very bottom of the economic ladder, and the ability to empower other organizations to achieve the same impact – are rare. Together, they give us an unparalleled opportunity to scale. With every new partner we train, our collective reach expands, creating a ripple effect of possibility across the globe.
That’s why I’m excited about where we’re headed. I see a future where millions more women step into their power, provide for their families, and contribute to thriving communities. And I see SBS as a catalyst helping to make that vision a reality.
In the coming weeks and months, I’m looking forward to sharing more about our future-vision for where SBS is headed, and how we fully realize the potential of this organization to make a significant difference in global poverty.
I’m grateful to our team, our partners, and to all of you who believe in this mission. The work ahead won’t be easy, but it will be worth it—and I couldn’t be more excited to lead SBS into this next chapter.
