Location: Remote, based in Colorado

Annual Salary: $45,000-$55,000

Hours per week: The position has an estimated schedule of an average of 35 hours per week year-round, however due to the nature of our business the hours may fluctuate from week to week.

Street Business School Overview

Street Business School’s (SBS) mission is to end global poverty by empowering women to become thriving entrepreneurs, lifting their families to a vibrant future.

Our highly interactive, experiential business training curriculum builds hard skills like bookkeeping, customer care, and market research, as well as a sense of empowerment, dignity, and belief in oneself. In addition to providing training for women directly in Uganda, where our program began, SBS works with partner organizations around the world to embed the SBS curriculum alongside their existing programs.

Position Summary
The Development Associate plays a major role in organizing our approach to working with our donors and supporters. Primary responsibilities include appropriately tracking and acknowledging gifts from donors, working with the Business Development team to calendar and plan donor cultivation activities, developing content for communications to individual donors, and supporting the Acting CEO in building strong relationships with supporters. This position requires outstanding organizational skills, strong written communication, excellent judgment and ethics, the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, and the ability to problem solve. The Development Associate reports to the Acting CEO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Donor Management (50%)

  • Maintain donor database, ensuring accurate data entry and providing timely donor acknowledgements.
  • Plan and track engagement activities to build and maintain relationships with current and potential donors and sponsors.
  • Communicate with, educate, inspire, and celebrate donors to give consistently and at higher levels.
  • Prepare internal reports on fundraising progress and activities.
  • Help to identify prospective major donors through research and analytics.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for fundraising events and activities in the Denver/Boulder area.

Communications Support (25%)

  • Prepare reports and gift requests for donors that are clear and compelling.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of fundraising campaigns.
  • Provide content for SBS’ social media, email marketing, and public relations activities as needed.

Administrative Support (25%)

  • Provide general administrative support to the Acting CEO, including drafting correspondence to and
    scheduling meetings with supporters.

General

  • Demonstrate Street Business School’s Core Values.
  • Exhibit professionalism and high standards in all aspects of performance.
  • Communicate with donors by phone, e-mail or in person to explain Street Business School and its work, and
    solicit or accept donations on behalf of the organization.
  • Participate in internal committees and work groups as requested.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a fundraising, sales, or customer service role.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years relevant experience.
  • A self-driven and kind work style, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office suite and other basic computing skills.
  • High level of integrity with confidential information.
  • A personal interest in and commitment to Street Business School’s mission.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate time zones, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends when necessary.
  • Background in work or volunteering with non-profit or women’s empowerment program is helpful.

Reporting to this position: No direct reports

Physical demands and work environment:
This is a fully remote position with some in-person duties required to support donor engagement in the Denver/Boulder area. Employee will need to be comfortable working on a computer for long periods and be able to attend regular virtual meetings. Employee will need to be able to communicate effectively in a virtual environment.
