A Special Announcement from SBS CEO Devin Hibbard

Dear Friends and Partners,

It has been the greatest honor and privilege of my life to create and lead Street Business School. Now, after 18 years working to end poverty at BeadforLife and then Street Business School, I’ve made the bittersweet decision that it is time for me to transition out of my role as CEO. I want to share why this is the right time for this change.

I’ve always known that I wanted to leave when the organization was strong, and today, SBS is stronger than ever. I feel so confident that we will meet our big and ambitious goals. I’m confident because of our incredible team that make the work happen. I’m confident because of our financial strength, financial reserves, and an amazing group of people and organizations who support us. We have an RCT that will open new doors to funding opportunities and partnerships. And I’m confident because SBS works, and the world needs us.

The SBS Board of Directors, Leadership Team, and I have created a thoughtful transition plan for the next six months which includes conducting a global search to find our next leader. I’ll stay in my role until roughly the end of January 2023, after completing a hand over to the new CEO. Then I’m planning to take at least six months off to rest and be with my family as I contemplate what’s next for me. I’ll continue to support our work in a Board Emeritus position, as well as continuing to be an individual donor to our work.

While making this decision has been hard, I’m incredibly excited about what a new CEO will bring to SBS. We are looking for someone who is passionate, talented, and on fire about ending global poverty! I believe that this leader will identify new opportunities and help SBS grow in new ways. And I’m confident that the visionary changemaker is out there right now, waiting to hear about this amazing opportunity, and jumping up to put their shoulder to the wheel of helping 1 million women out of poverty.

We need your help finding this person!  Please right now…

  1. Check out the job description.
  2. Share it via email, social media, or carrier pigeon with someone amazing you know.

Thank you so much for being on this journey with SBS. Looking back over 18 years, I am so grateful and humbled by what we have accomplished together. I’ve loved working along each one of you to give women the opportunity to change their lives. The work SBS is doing is transformational. The world needs us more than ever, and we stand prepared to meet that need.

Thank you and onward!

Devin Hibbard
SBS Founder & CEO
